Forged by a shared affinity for James Yancey’s (J Dilla) angelic HipHop compositions, Von Disco was undeniably founded as a multifariously dimensional Urban Jazz trio alongside founding drummer Steve Nadler. After relocating to the midwest to pursue alternate endeavors, Steve passed the torch onto east coast native Eric Imbrosciano, who beckons synergistic cohesion between guitarist/emcee Jesse Hunter and keyboardist/bass player Tyson Bennett. Although each constituent of the personnel is individually educated and fluent in a vast array of genres, Von Disco has unwaveringly aligned the scope of dedication towards expanding their Jazz driven HipHop roots as a foundation to traverse additional sonic terrain, such as TripHop, Drum ’n Bass, and House. To place a seemingly satirical twist on the group’s musical influences and overall trajectory of sound, each current member has a particular fondness for the “jam band” concept, or as Jesse affectionately refers to it, “exploratory movements.” The end result equivocates to pristinely composed melodic HipHop compositions coalescing rap, audacious drum beats, sub sonic bass frequencies, ethereal melodic moments with improvisational passages that employ thematic development over the course of the sonic journey. Essentially, a TripHop jam band, but vastly more complex.
